Every course is assessed and prescribed by a GPhC-registered pharmacist prescriber and delivered by our experienced aesthetic practitioner in Bury, Greater Manchester.

What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are injectable treatments that improve the overall quality, hydration and radiance of your skin.
They use stabilised hyaluronic acid — a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and can hold many times its own weight in water — delivered through a series of tiny injections to place deep hydration exactly where the skin needs it. Rather than changing the shape of your face, skin boosters work from within to leave the complexion smoother, plumper and more luminous. They are a popular choice for people in their late twenties and beyond who want healthier-looking skin without an obvious ‘done’ look.
What skin boosters can help with
At a prescriber-led consultation we’ll assess whether skin boosters are right for your skin and goals. People commonly ask about them for:
- Dull, tired or dehydrated skin that has lost its glow
- Fine lines and early signs of ageing
- Loss of firmness, bounce and elasticity
- Crepey skin on the face, neck, décolletage and hands
- Overall skin quality, smoothness and radiance
Skin boosters vs dermal fillers
It’s an important distinction. Dermal fillers add volume and structure to specific areas — lips, cheeks, chin or jawline. Skin boosters don’t add volume; they improve the quality and hydration of the skin itself over a wider area. The two are often combined as part of a tailored plan, which your prescriber will talk through with you.
Which skin booster is right for you?
We offer a range of skin boosters so treatment can be matched to your skin rather than a one-size-fits-all approach:
- Profhilo® — a bio-remodelling treatment that spreads under the skin to hydrate and stimulate collagen and elastin. Usually a course of two sessions four weeks apart; often chosen from around age 30.
- Seventy Hyal 2000® — a high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid that delivers immediate hydration and glow. Suitable for most skin types from age 18.
- Polynucleotides — regenerative injectables that support the skin’s own repair processes and quality, including in more delicate areas.
Which one suits you best is decided together at your consultation.
What to expect
Every treatment starts with a consultation and prescriber assessment to confirm you’re suitable. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes and involves a series of small injections into the target area. Most people have a course of two sessions about four weeks apart — occasionally three — with results building over the following weeks and maintenance typically every six months.

Skin boosters before and after: the results timeline
Skin feels hydrated almost immediately. You may notice small raised bumps (sometimes called blebs) at the injection points, which settle within 24 to 48 hours. The best results usually appear around four weeks after the second session, once the skin has remodelled — leaving it more hydrated, even and radiant. Results typically last six to twelve months, and a maintenance session keeps the glow going. Individual results vary, and we’ll set realistic expectations at your consultation.
Aftercare and side effects
Skin boosters have minimal downtime. For the best result we recommend avoiding make-up for 12 to 24 hours, alcohol for 48 hours, and heat, saunas and strenuous exercise for 48 hours, plus no other facial treatments for two weeks. Common side effects are temporary and mild — small bumps at the injection sites, slight swelling, redness, tenderness or minor bruising — usually settling within a few days. You’ll be given full written aftercare and can contact us with any concerns.
Why prescriber-led matters
At Bury Healthcare Aesthetics your treatment is overseen by a GPhC-registered pharmacist independent prescriber. That means a proper clinical assessment of your skin, medical history and suitability before any treatment — the same standards you’d expect from a healthcare provider, applied to aesthetics. Treatments are delivered by our experienced aesthetic practitioner and trainer.
Skin booster FAQs
What are skin boosters and what do they do?
Skin boosters are injectable treatments that use stabilised hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin and improve its overall quality. Unlike dermal fillers, they do not add volume or change your shape — they work from within to leave the skin smoother, firmer and more radiant.
Are skin boosters the same as dermal fillers?
No. Dermal fillers add volume and structure to specific areas such as lips, cheeks or chin. Skin boosters improve the quality, hydration and glow of the skin across a wider area without changing its shape. Many people use the two together as part of a wider plan discussed at consultation.
How many sessions will I need, and how long do skin boosters last?
Most people have a course of two treatments about four weeks apart, and some skin types benefit from a third. Once the course is complete, results typically last around six to twelve months, after which a maintenance session keeps them topped up. Your prescriber will recommend a plan at your consultation.
When will I see results?
You may notice more hydrated, glowing skin within a week, but the best results usually appear around four weeks after your second session as the skin remodels. Improvements in firmness and texture continue to build over the following weeks.
Do skin boosters hurt, and is there any downtime?
Discomfort is usually minimal, as the injections are small and a fine needle or cannula is used. You may see small raised bumps at the injection points that settle within 24 to 48 hours, so downtime is minimal and most people return to normal activities the same day.
What are the side effects of skin boosters?
The most common side effects are temporary and mild: small bumps at the injection sites, slight swelling, redness, tenderness or minor bruising, usually settling within a few days. More serious reactions are uncommon. Your practitioner will give you full aftercare advice and is contactable if you have any concerns.
Profhilo, Seventy Hyal or polynucleotides — which is best for me?
It depends on your skin and your goals. Profhilo is a bio-remodelling treatment that hydrates and stimulates collagen, often chosen from around age 30. Seventy Hyal 2000 gives immediate hydration and glow and suits most skin types from 18. Polynucleotides are regenerative injectables that support skin repair, including in delicate areas. Your prescriber will recommend the most suitable option at your consultation.
How much do skin boosters cost?
The cost depends on which skin booster is used and how many sessions your plan involves. Because treatment is prescriber-led and tailored to you, we confirm the exact price at your consultation before anything goes ahead, with no obligation to proceed.
Are skin boosters safe, and who will treat me?
Yes, when carried out by trained professionals after a proper assessment. At Bury Healthcare Aesthetics every course is assessed and prescribed by a GPhC-registered pharmacist independent prescriber and delivered by an experienced aesthetic practitioner, so your suitability and safety are checked before any treatment.
