How Long Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Last?
The honest answer from a prescriber-led clinic: how long results typically last, why they wear off, and what really does — and doesn’t — make them last longer.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
For most people, anti-wrinkle injections last around three to four months. That is an average, not a promise — the exact duration varies from person to person and depends on the area treated, the dose your prescriber decides is appropriate, and how your own muscles respond. Some people find results fade a little sooner, others a little later.
Why do they wear off?
The treatment works by temporarily reducing movement in the small muscles that crease the skin. Over the following months, that muscle action gradually returns to normal, the skin starts to fold again as before, and the softened lines slowly reappear. This wearing-off is completely expected — the effect is designed to be temporary, which is one of the reasons many people feel comfortable trying it.
Do they last longer if you have them regularly?
Often, yes. Many people find that with regular, appropriately spaced treatment the muscles become less strong over time, so results can last a little longer and the lines look softer even between appointments. This is something your prescriber can talk through with you — there is no fixed schedule you have to sign up to, and how often you return is always your choice.
What affects how long they last?
- The area treated — more mobile, expressive areas can see the effect fade a little faster.
- Your muscle strength and metabolism — everyone is different, and this is individual to you.
- The dose — decided by your prescriber based on a proper assessment, never a one-size-fits-all amount.
- How new you are to treatment — first-timers sometimes find early results fade sooner than later ones.
Can you make them last longer?
There is a lot of myth here, so let us be straight. Following your aftercare advice, protecting your skin from the sun and looking after your general skin health all support a good result. What we would never do is encourage you to have treatment more often than is appropriate, or chase a “frozen” look, just to stretch out an effect. Safe, well-spaced, prescriber-led treatment is what gives the best long-term outcome.
When should you rebook?
Rather than watching the calendar, it is usually best to rebook when you notice movement and lines returning to a point that bothers you — and to leave a sensible minimum gap between treatments, which your prescriber will advise. If you would like a review as your result settles, we are always happy to see you.
