Get your repeat pill without a GP appointment
If you already take the contraceptive pill, you can get your next supply free on the NHS from our pharmacy, without waiting for a GP appointment. Talk to a pharmacist in our Bury pharmacy, or by video if you’re 16 or over and live in England.
It’s free on the NHS. There is no prescription charge for contraception.
Who can use this service
You can use this service if you’re already taking the pill, whether it was first given to you by your GP, a sexual health clinic or another pharmacy. Book before you run out so there’s no gap in your protection.
What happens in the consultation
The pharmacist checks how you’re getting on with your pill, asks about any changes to your health or medicines, and checks your blood pressure and weight are still suitable.
- In branch: we check your blood pressure for you.
- By video: you give us a recent blood pressure reading, or take one yourself with a home monitor.
If it’s still right for you, the pharmacist supplies your next pill, where clinically appropriate. You can collect it or we post it to you. If you’d like to try a different pill or another method, they can talk you through your options.
