Allergy & Hayfever Treatment
Allergic rhinitis β commonly called hayfever β affects millions of people in the UK each year, typically during spring and summer when pollen counts are highest. Symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, and nasal congestion. Year-round allergies can also be triggered by house dust mites, pet dander, and mould.
Pharmacy-strength antihistamines and nasal corticosteroid sprays such as Beconase (beclometasone) provide more effective relief than standard GSL products and are available from our pharmacy following a brief consultation.

Antihistamines & Nasal Sprays
We stock cetirizine 10mg and loratadine 10mg tablets in larger pharmacy pack sizes, chlorphenamine 4mg (Piriton) for more acute allergic reactions, and Beconase / beclometasone nasal spray for nasal symptom control. These products are available in larger quantities than standard GSL packs.
Cetirizine and loratadine are classified as non-drowsy antihistamines and are suitable for daytime use. Chlorphenamine (Piriton) may cause drowsiness and is particularly useful for night-time symptom relief or acute allergic reactions.
Why Do I Need a Pharmacist Consultation?
Pharmacy-strength antihistamines in larger pack sizes and beclometasone nasal spray require pharmacist supervision. Our consultation checks for contraindications including kidney or liver problems, epilepsy, enlarged prostate, and pregnancy, as well as interactions with other medicines.
