How much is a private prescription in the UK?
There’s no fixed charge — you pay the real cost of the medicine plus the pharmacy’s dispensing fee. A common generic might cost less than the NHS prescription charge; branded or specialist medicines cost more. We quote the exact price before you commit, itemised so you can compare us with any other pharmacy.
Can any pharmacy dispense a private prescription?
Yes — a valid private prescription from a UK-registered prescriber (GP, independent prescriber, consultant, dentist) can be dispensed by any UK pharmacy. You don’t have to use the pharmacy your clinic suggests, and prices vary a lot between pharmacies — which is why it’s worth getting our quote first.
How do I get my prescription to you?
After you accept the quote: post us the paper original (we’ll give you the address and it’s covered by our free-delivery promise on the way back), or ask your prescriber to transmit it via a secure electronic prescribing platform. Controlled medicines legally require the paper original.
Do you dispense prescriptions from online clinics and private GPs?
Yes — as long as the prescriber is UK-registered and the prescription is valid, we can dispense it, whether it’s from an online dermatology or menopause clinic, a private GP, a consultant or a dentist.
How long is a private prescription valid?
Six months from the date it was signed, for most medicines. Controlled medicines are shorter — 28 days. If yours is close to expiring, get in touch quickly and we’ll prioritise it.
How fast will I get my medicine?
We dispense the same working day your original prescription reaches us and post it with free tracked delivery — most patients have their medicine within 1–3 working days of posting their script. Collection in Bury is available the same day.
Is my prescription photo kept private?
Yes. The photo is used only to prepare your quote, is stored securely, and is deleted if you don’t go ahead. We’re a GPhC-registered pharmacy (No. 1126145) and handle all health information under UK GDPR.
