Why this happens
Treclin contains tretinoin, which must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and clindamycin, an antibiotic that isn’t safe for people with a history of bowel inflammation or antibiotic-associated colitis, or alongside oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane). These are hard safety rules — no reputable prescriber can supply Treclin in these situations.
What you can do instead
There are still good options for treating acne safely. Azelaic acid is a pregnancy-safe treatment that helps both spots and marks; adapalene is an antibiotic-free retinoid alternative for some situations; and if your acne is severe, nodular or scarring, the right route is a referral to a dermatologist — your GP can arrange this on the NHS.
