Eligibility

Treclin gel contains tretinoin, which must not be used in pregnancy, and clindamycin, an antibiotic that is only suitable for some types of acne. These questions check the treatment is safe for you.

Tretinoin must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and clindamycin is not safe with a history of colitis or alongside isotretinoin. Benzoyl peroxide inactivates tretinoin and acids increase irritation — the prescriber will advise how to adjust your routine.

What to expect from Treclin

Apply a pea-sized amount once daily in the evening to clean, dry skin.
Results build over 6–12 weeks; mild dryness, peeling and redness are common at first, and a temporary 'purge' of spots in weeks 2–6 can happen before skin improves.
Maximum course 12 weeks — the antibiotic part must not be used longer (this protects you and others from antibiotic resistance). We'll advise on maintenance afterwards.
Daily SPF 30+ every morning is essential — tretinoin makes skin more sun-sensitive.
