How much does it cost to see a dermatologist in the UK?
A private consultant dermatologist typically charges £150–£350 for an initial consultation (around £250 on average), with medicines on top. The NHS route is free but needs a GP referral and often a long wait. For mild to moderate acne, our online skin clinic is an alternative: £29.99 including the prescriber consultation and the medicine, with a full refund if treatment isn't approved.
Is this the same as seeing a dermatologist?
No — and we're upfront about that. Our clinic is run by a pharmacist independent prescriber, qualified to assess and prescribe first-line prescription skin treatments. A dermatologist is a hospital specialist for severe or complex skin disease. If your consultation suggests you need one, we'll tell you and won't supply treatment.
How do I see a dermatologist in the UK?
Ask your GP for an NHS referral (free, but waiting lists are long), or book privately (£150–£350 per consultation). If your concern is mild to moderate acne, you may not need one — a prescriber-led online consultation can start licensed treatment the same day.
Do I need a prescription for your treatments?
Yes — everything in the Skin Clinic is prescription-only. The prescription is issued by our pharmacist independent prescriber after reviewing your consultation, so you don't need to see your GP first.
Is an online skin consultation safe and legitimate?
Check any online pharmacy on the GPhC register — we're registration 1126145. Our consultations ask real screening questions (pregnancy, medical history, current skincare, photos), a named prescriber reviews every one, and orders are declined and refunded where treatment isn't appropriate. A site that sells prescription medicine with no questions is one to avoid.
How quickly will I get my treatment?
Consultations are reviewed within one working day. Approved orders are dispatched in discreet packaging; most patients have treatment within 2–3 working days of ordering.
