Hylo-Forte eye drops give intensive, long-lasting relief for severe or persistent dry eyes. Each bottle contains 2 mg/ml (0.2%) sodium hyaluronate in a preservative-free and phosphate-free formula, delivering at least 300 measured drops that stay sterile for 6 months after opening.
What is Hylo-Forte?
Hylo-Forte is a preservative-free lubricating eye drop (artificial tears) made with sodium hyaluronate, a moisture-binding substance found naturally in the eye. It comes in the COMOD multi-dose pump bottle — an airless system that keeps the solution sterile without preservatives, which matters because preservatives can themselves irritate dry, sensitive eyes with long-term use. Hylo-Forte is a CE-marked medical device rather than a medicine, so anyone can buy it without a prescription or questionnaire.
What is Hylo-Forte used for?
- Moderate to severe or persistent dry eye — burning, gritty, tired or itchy eyes
- Dryness caused by screen use, air conditioning, heating or windy weather
- Lubrication after eye surgery, on the advice of your surgeon or optician
- Dry eye linked to contact lens wear
How does Hylo-Forte work?
Sodium hyaluronate forms a smooth, stable film over the surface of the eye. At the higher 2 mg/ml concentration in Hylo-Forte, this film is more viscous, so it clings to the eye for longer and gives stronger, longer-lasting lubrication than standard-strength drops — without blurring vision the way a gel or ointment can during the day.
How to use Hylo-Forte
- Before first use, press the pump a few times until a drop appears.
- Apply 1 drop into each eye, usually 3 times a day, or as advised by your optician or doctor.
- If you need drops more than 10 times a day, get your eyes checked by an eye specialist.
- Hold the bottle tip downwards and do not let it touch your eye or skin.
- If you use other eye drops, leave about 30 minutes between products, and apply eye ointments last.
- Use within 6 months of first opening. Store at room temperature.
Hylo-Forte vs Hylo-Tear vs Hylo Night
The Hylo range covers different levels of dryness. Hylo-Tear contains 1 mg/ml sodium hyaluronate for mild to moderate dry eye. Hylo-Forte doubles the concentration to 2 mg/ml for more severe or persistent symptoms. Hylo Night is a vitamin A eye ointment used at bedtime to protect and soothe the eyes overnight — many people combine Hylo-Forte during the day with Hylo Night before sleep.
Can you use Hylo-Forte with contact lenses?
Yes. Because Hylo-Forte is preservative-free, it is suitable for use with both soft and rigid (hard) contact lenses, and can be applied while your lenses are in.
