Meaningful weight change builds over the first 2–3 months as the dose steps up. The starting dose exists for tolerability, not results, so slow progress in the first month does not mean the medicine is not working. If there is no response once you are established on a maintenance dose, your prescriber will review whether to continue.
Mounjaro side effects
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, stomach pain and indigestion. They are usually most noticeable after a dose increase and settle as your body adjusts — staying hydrated and eating smaller meals helps. Seek urgent medical help for severe, persistent abdominal pain, which can be a sign of pancreatitis. Low blood sugar is mainly a risk when Mounjaro is combined with a sulfonylurea or insulin.
